SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Third large town of pilgrimage of Christendom after Jerusalem and Rome, Santiago de Compostela owes his name with the Apostle Santiago whose bones would rest under the flagstones of its cathedral. Emblematic city during the medieval period it remains still today the goal of many pilgrims in search of spirituality. Fatherland of Cid and stage city on the Way of Compostelle, Burgos has architectural richnesses which make its fame: the XIII century Gothic cathedral, monastery of Mow Reales founded in XIIe, Arco de Santa Maria. Old capital of the kingdom of the same name, Leon is the cradle of the Romanesque art whose Pantheon Royal in San Isidoro is the most significant example. Its Gothic cathedral is one of most beautiful of Spain.
